Northville CARES for Youth Advisory Council

Northville CARES is a collaborative effort of several local City of Northville and Northville Township agencies, organizations, businesses and schools to share resources and programming available to Northville families.

Mental Health Youth have a healthy balance in how they think, feel, and behave and the skills necessary to seek support in times of difficulty. Life Skills & Support Youth have the skills necessary to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Physical Health Youth nurture their bodies in ways that positively support the mind and body connection. Personal Safety Youth are emotionally, mentally, and physically safe in their homes, schools, and community.

In coordination with our Northville CARES Council, Northville High School is excited to
announce “Everybody Versus Stigma” Week September 26th-30th. There will be a
variety of school-based activities Monday through Thursday that focus on increasing
mental health awareness and ending the stigma of mental illness. On Friday,
September 30th, our students will have the opportunity to hear Mr. Kevin Fischer
(Executive Director of the National Alliance of Mental Illness-NAMI) and Mr. Eric Hipple
(former Detroit Lion/speaker) speak about how mental illness has impacted themselves
and their family members. Additionally, we will have facilitators from Northville CARES
agencies and NPS support staff join smaller Seminar groups that will focus on what to
look for in terms of mental health and strategies to support mental health and wellbeing.
